CCI seeks to bring together those affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for the purpose of promoting community support and life enriching resources.
Treatment Connections
Many individuals cannot access effective autism treatment due to high co-pays or health insurance limitations. Advocates are often necessary as a family navigates formulating an effective support team for their child with ASD.
CCI’s ‘Treatment Connection’ is a grant program which assists individuals’ financial access to autism treatment and advocacy.
Home Connections
Individuals diagnosed with ASD often require assistive technology, adaptive equipment and/or individualized home environments to foster development. Symptoms related to ASD can result in damage to an individual’s home environment.
‘Home Connections’ is a CCI grant program which supports families’ home environment needs and repairs in relation to symptoms associated with ASD.
Parent Connections
The initial impact of a child being diagnosed with ASD can leave a parent feeling isolated, unsure of the future and emotionally strained. As this child grows, it is common for a parent to become consumed with the betterment of their child rather than giving themselves time to process and form healthy coping skills for handling the emotional distress that can come from daily exposure to the symptoms of their child’s ASD.
‘Parent Connections’ hosted by CCI is a support group hosted by various professionals in the field of ASD, mental health counseling and social work. Hosts are contracted by CCI and those attending ‘Parent Connections’ attend free of charge and are required to have an individual with ASD within their immediate family.
Sibling Connections
The impact of having a sibling with ASD can cause a child to have confusion, feel unseen, etc. As a child observes their sibling display symptoms of ASD, their parent may be less accessible at times as a result. A typically developing sibling’s emotional and behavioral development can become strained as they process differences in needed supports within their immediate family.
‘Sibling Connections’ hosted by CCI is a support group hosted by various professionals in the field of ASD, mental health counseling and social work. Hosts are contracted by CCI and those attending ‘Sibling Connections’ attend free of charge and are required to have sibling with ASD.
